Our Story
Andy Tanner’s lifelong love of woodworking grew into Northmoor Woodworks, a studio rooted in family and craft. The name Northmoor nods to the lakeshore and lighthouses that have shaped our family’s story and our design sensibility: calm, clean lines; honest materials; built for weather and time.
From a small Westlake workshop, we’ve grown through referrals—one kitchen, one library wall, one dining table at a time. Today, we partner with homeowners, interior designers, and builders who value integrity, patience, and a relentless attention to detail.

The Process
1. Conversation & Site Visit
We listen first: goals, inspiration, constraints, and how you use the space. We document site conditions and discuss budget ranges.
2. Design & Detailing
Scaled drawings, material palettes, and hardware selections. We refine together until every line and measurement is right.
3. Build
Lumber selection, milling, joinery, assembly, and finish. We share progress photos so you can follow along.
4. Installation & Care
Coordinated delivery and clean installation. We provide a care guide and remain available for tune‑ups as wood settles into its home.

- Select‑grade hardwoods and architectural‑grade sheet goods
- Domino/tenon, mortise‑and‑tenon, and dovetail joinery where appropriate
- Professional conversion varnish, hardwax oils, or catalyzed lacquer finishes based on use case
